Create a Swiss QR-bill for free

Create the payment part with receipt and Swiss QR Code for your invoice - according to the Swiss Implementation Guidelines for the QR-bill 2.3 from SIX, with a structured address. The generator validates the IBAN, QR-IBAN and reference and delivers a PDF or a PNG.

The generator runs entirely in your browser. Account number, addresses and amounts are not sent anywhere and are not stored.

The generator needs JavaScript. Without JavaScript, you can create QR-bills in your bank's e-banking or in invoicing software such as Easly.

The preview appears as soon as the mandatory fields are correct.

The PDF is A4 with the payment part at the bottom; the PNG (300 dpi) contains only the payment part with receipt, 210 × 105 mm, for inserting into your own invoice document. Always print at actual size (100%), not "fit to page".

What the generator checks

  • IBAN: only accounts from Switzerland or Liechtenstein (21 characters), with a modulo 97 check digit - a typo is spotted immediately.
  • QR-IBAN: if positions 5 to 9 contain a number from 30000 to 31999, it is a QR-IBAN. A QR reference is then mandatory: 27 digits, the last of which is a check digit calculated using recursive modulo 10.
  • Regular IBAN: here you go without a reference or with a Creditor Reference according to ISO 11649 ("RF", two check digits, then up to 21 characters - 5 to 25 characters in total). A QR reference is not allowed with a regular IBAN.
  • Addresses: since November 21, 2025, structured only - name, street, house number, postal code, town and country in separate fields. Name, postal code, town and country are mandatory.
  • Characters: only Latin characters are allowed. The generator automatically replaces typographic quotation marks and apostrophes.

The Swiss QR Code is generated with error correction level M in the smallest possible version and set at 46 × 46 mm, with the 7 × 7 mm Swiss cross in the center. The font is Helvetica or Arial in the sizes specified in the guidelines.

QR-IBAN or IBAN - which do you need?

To start with, your regular IBAN is enough: your customer pays with the QR code, and the message contains your invoice number, for example. A QR-IBAN with a QR reference pays off if you have many invoices and want to match payments automatically. You get the QR-IBAN from your bank; it belongs to the same account. More in the guide Creating a QR-bill: what you need to know.

Reference from your invoice number

Enter your number in the field "Create reference from invoice number", for example 2026-0042. With a QR-IBAN, the generator takes the digits, pads them with leading zeros to 26 digits and appends the check digit: 00 00000 00000 00000 02026 00427. With a regular IBAN, this becomes the Creditor Reference RF88 2026 0042.

How to use the payment part

  1. Fill in the fields and check the preview: the name and address must match the details of your account.
  2. Download the PDF. If you attach it to an email, no perforation is needed - the dashed lines with the scissors symbol show where to cut.
  3. For sending on paper, print on perforated paper so that the payment part can be cleanly separated at the bottom of the invoice.
  4. Test your first invoice with your bank's app: scan the QR code and check that all details come through correctly.

What else belongs on a correct invoice is explained in the guide Writing an invoice: mandatory details and sample.

Automatic with Easly

The generator creates a single payment part. In Easly, the complete invoice with payment part is created from the quote or the order - with IBAN and Creditor Reference, without a reference, or with QR-IBAN and QR reference. Easly sends it by email, sends reminders when payment is late and automatically matches the payment from your bank statement.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR-bill from the generator valid?

The payment part follows the Swiss Implementation Guidelines for the QR-bill 2.3 from SIX: data structure, structured addresses, check digits, dimensions and fonts. Still, test your first invoice with your bank's app before you send it.

Is my data stored?

No. The QR code, the PDF and the PNG are created in your browser. Nothing is sent to easly.ch or anyone else. If you reload the page, the details are gone.

Can I create a QR-bill without an amount?

Yes. Leave the Amount field blank: the payment part and the receipt then show a box with corner marks where the amount is filled in by hand - useful for donations or partial payments.

Does it work in euros too?

Yes, the payment part can be in CHF or EUR. However, the account must have a Swiss or Liechtenstein IBAN.

Why does the generator reject my reference?

Usually the reference doesn't match the IBAN: a QR reference with 27 digits requires a QR-IBAN; with a regular IBAN, you need a Creditor Reference (RF…) or none at all. Or the check digit is wrong - in that case, the "Generate with check digit" button helps.
